Sculpt
Sculpt is part of Etheric Oasis, a small interactive artwork for the web: a world of
sand and sea, seen from above. Dragging a finger across the water raises sand from the sea floor
until it breaks the surface and becomes land, with beaches, grass and, if it is piled
high enough, bare rock and snow. Tapping the ground plants a tree; tapping the water
makes rings that spread and fade. Once there is land, a little sailboat appears, to be
towed to wherever she should anchor; tapping her opens the view from
her foredeck, with the island all around.
It is a quiet place, made so that a young child can play in it with nothing to read
and nothing to get wrong. There is nothing to buy, no account, no advertising and no data
collection. There is also reflect, a bench at the head of
a long wooden pier in a green harbour, looking out over the water. There is also an about page.
