Rest
Rest is the view from the foredeck of a small sailboat, part of Etheric Oasis:
at anchor off an island made on the sculpt page, or out on open water. She rides the swell, rising and rolling with it, and dragging a finger or the
mouse turns the view and steers her round after it. Islands lie on the horizon: a
sandy cay with palms, green hills with a lighthouse, and a high island with a bare
summit. The symbol in the corner changes the weather, which eases from one sky into the
next, round a day: golden hour with the sun laying a path of light across the water, dusk with
the evening star, a moonlit night with the jib rolled up and a lantern on the forestay, a glassy
dawn, a clear afternoon, a squall, a thunderstorm and a night storm.
The water, the sky, the islands and the boat are drawn fresh for every frame by the graphics card. There
is nothing to read and nothing to get wrong. There is nothing to buy, no account, no
advertising and no data collection.
The other pages are reflect, a bench at the head of a long wooden
pier in a green harbour, looking out over the water; and sculpt, a small island world seen from above, where an
island can be made and then sailed around here. There is also an
about page.
